ARC Standing Committee Descriptions
Below is a list of the ARC Standing Committees. ARC requires each member to be on at least one of these committees. Many members serve on more than one committee. The committee organization plan provides that each committee have a chair and a liaison to the board. Each board member who is not an officer serves as a board liaison to at least one committee.
New members please review the committee descriptions and indicate your committee preference to the membership director on your membership application.
Member Services
- Manages all things member related – recruitment, applications, new member orientation, membership policies, boathouse rules, volunteer coordination, safety and current Boathouse Captain’s duties: rack assignments, captain’s test for novices, boat reservation system.
Equipment
- Maintains and improves the club’s stock of rowing equipment including shells, oars, launch and motor, trailers, ergs, etc. Responsibilities include cleaning, painting, repairs, transporting equipment to shops for service, planning for and making equipment purchases.
Facilities
- Maintains and improves the club’s facilities. Tasks include routine maintenance such as grounds keeping, cleaning and organizing the boathouse, repairs and painting, but will also include projects to improve facility function and capacity.
Programs
- Plans and manages all rowing and social activities: member coaching, public programs (currently the summer programs), and special events (except NHCR). Will also coordinate and monitor the activities of the school teams. Activities could include parties, potlucks, home practice races, masters sweep group, trips to regattas, National Learn to Row Day, Hooksett residents open house, etc, etc.
Regatta
- Plans and runs the NH Champs including capacity and facility planning, race schedule, registration, timing, awards, volunteer coordination, concessions, program booklet, sponsors, and more.
Communications/Public Relations
- Manages the club’s public image and communications, also the means of intra-club communications; phone, mail, e-mail, website, brochures, press releases, etc.
- Supports Member Services, Programs and Regatta Committees in particular with public communications
Strategic Planning
- Creates and periodically updates the club’s long range plan
- Composed of several board members plus a couple other more experienced club members
- No one may serve only on the planning committee. It’s an extra assignment for those wanting to be involved at a higher level.
